I don’t know about you, but there have been many times when I’ve gone to the refrigerator, opened the door, and then just stared inside wondering what on earth it was that I wanted to get. If this happens to you too and you want it to stop, try this simple trick - make an association in your mind as soon as you think of something you want to get from the refrigerator.

For example, if you wanted to get a glass of milk, in you mind picture yourself opening the door to your refrigerator being hit in the face by gallons of milk flying out!

It may seem like a simple idea, but if you give it a go for a few days you’ll find that you never end up staring into the fridge wondering what you wanted. By creating the association in your mind, you’ve done the equivalent of grabbing your mind by the scruff of the neck and forcing it to remember what it was you wanted to do.

Creating these associations in your mind may seem like a waste of time to you at first, but you won’t feel that way after you’ve tried the idea for a few days. You will need to force yourself to use this association method at first, but it won’t take too long for it to become habitual. After a short while you’ll see that the “ridiculous pictures” are created almost instantly in your mind. Before you know it, you’ll be doing it all the time for everything (not just getting items from the fridge). Best of all, you’ll be saving a huge amount of time by not forgetting what you were doing!
